Leicester City are on a march to secure promotion back to the Premier League. The Foxes have been dominating the Championship. After 25 matches, Enzo Maresca’s squad had a positive 33-goal differential, 20 victories, and 62 total points. All of those stats are far ahead of their closest competitors. Now, according to journalist Lyall Thomas, there could be a new face joining in January to bolster their title hopes.

Leicester City Targeting Liverpool’s Fabio Carvalho

Sky Sports Coverage

The Sky Sports journalist reported that Leicester “want to sign” Liverpool’s young attacker Fabio Varvalho on a loan deal. Thomas’s coverage was part of Sky Sports’ larger Transfer Centre LIVE! Should the Foxes secure the youngster on loan, it would only be for the remained of the season.

Carvalho had been on loan to RB Leipzig, but the Bundesliga club were not giving him the playing time Liverpool had been hoping for. Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano had reported earlier on Sunday that the Reds had officially recalled the 21-year-old. Now the Portuguese player is “considering next options” as noted by Thomas.

Carvalho’s Potential Role at Leicester

Maresca has created a strong team dynamic at King Power Stadium. Leicester have been great at creating and finishing their scoring opportunities. Carvalho would add an extra spark to the squad rotation that could lift the Foxes out of reach of their opponents. Still, the young attacker will have to fight for a spot on the pitch, and could struggle to get playing time in his first month of a potential move.

Liverpool will hope to see Carvalho establish himself at Leicester. The Reds know that the Portuguese player is still in his developmental stage. Experience in the English Football League System, especially with a club whose return to the top flight is expected, should benefit all three parties.
